Homeschooling from the Road

How we travel full time and homeschool our young children.

Homeschooling was not our first choice.

In fact, most of my life I dreamed of putting my kids in the best local, private Christian school and running my successful business from a downtown suite with my creative team. The last few years have made it very apparent to me that this world is not going to raise my children the same way I would, and that indoctrination that’s not true to God’s word is around every corner. So as my heart changed, so did our dream of what our lifestyle looked like, and it all came beautifully together as my son graduated his preschool and we hit the road full time.

Homeschool can be hard.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Covid was eye opening for families, and we gained a new appreciation for our super hero teachers. But a lot of moms and dads also got to see first hand the value in keeping our children at home, guiding the truths in the education they receive and being more present in their lives – a benefit to both us as parents, and them as kids who need their mom and dad.

We don’t do it perfectly

Shocking, I know… but I think a lot of people assume we travel around on our infinite vacation while singing education songs in the car, reciting scripture passages, and cheerfully completing perfect workbook work.

I promise you… it’s far more messy than that. But that’s okay. I’m here to tell you: let it be messy. The beauty in homeschooling is that it can look however you need it to look. Try something, fail, adjust, and try again. We went from a tearful son who “hates school so much” to a son excited to get schoolwork started because he’s “really, REALLY good at math!”

The following blog posts are the knowledge I want to pass on to you to hopefully make your homeschooling journey (whether it’s from the road or a traditional home) just a little easier.
